My recent ascent into fatherhood has kept me from being able to create new artwork (though my definition of art now includes my daughter), so I haven't posted in a while. But - I was finally able to get back into something this week, mostly painted during naps (hers, not mine). This started as the inkwork for the Gym Class Heroes' Berserkers graphic I did (which was colored digitally), now watercolored and with new lettering. In case anyone cares, the lettering is greek and means "Either [with] it [your shield], or on it" - a spartan battle motto, meaning you either come home with your shield (victorious), or on it (honorable death in battle). Those were the only two choices.

Just finished another graphic for Gym Class Heroes, this one for their fall 2011 US tour. They're doing a motorcycle club theme and this is being printed on hoodies and embroidered into MC back patches. Pretty cool stuff, I hope I can get one when they're printed. Finished this recently, another graphic for Gym Class Heroes, kind of a take on the famous scene from the movie Say Anything with John Cusack. I actually saw them live last weekend at the NYS Fair, great show. I was able to see the show from the side of the backstage area and kick it with Matt & Travis and have a couple beers after the show. Real nice guys. Their merchandise tent had this shirt for sale as well as the headless pinup girl t-shirt I did for them a while back, I scored one of each, it was the first time I had seen them actually printed. They printed really well. Can't wait to do some more work for these guys - got something in the works right now, in fact...

Finished this recently for SRH in San Diego for an upcoming t-shirt release. They wanted something along the lines of a living machine made up entirely of parts from a motocross bike. Did the whole thing with a brush and ink. My hand still hurts. I hope it gets printed!

Just finished a commission for a good friend of mine. He wanted some 3D graffiti done as a triptych, in somewhat neutral colors, but left the rest up to me. This is what I ended up with - the piece is acrylic on 3 wood panels, each sized at 28x52", with 2" in between each panel, so like 88x52" overall. Definitely the biggest acrylic painting I've done. I usually like to work smaller so this was HARD. The first image is the whole thing, the other shots are closeups of a couple sections.

120 Proof : Aftermath

Just completed the watercolor remix of the Trav McCoy/Billionaire art I did recently. I had the original inked drawing that was already on watercolor paper, so why not paint it. In this incarnation, I call it '1955'. It is for sale - it's 13.25x23.5", unframed, although I will be framing it. Email me if you're interested in purchasing it.

Stab & Grab/1000STYLES Skate Decks Soon to be Available

Got a prototype of the skate deck I'm working on with Stab & Grab. I'll soon be offering these for sale through my shop (on the right margin of this page), as soon as I can grab a few production copies. I really love how these are turning out, so I thought I'd post up a couple photos of the prototype. I tried to get the best natural light possible on these by taking the photos outside, but my crappy photos don't really do this justice - the art looks REALLY good on these. There will not be a white base layer printed before the art, so the light tones of color and wood grain of the hardwood maple used in the construction decks shows through in a really cool way, 100% complementing the artwork. And this isn't a heat transfer or even a silkscreen, this is ultra-professional high-end ish. I'm super excited about these - not sure how much I'll be charging for them yet, but if anyone's interested in reserving one, just email me. I won't have many, we ain't no high rollers over here. Time Magazine 'Year in Pictures' issue just voted Raekwon's 'House of Flying Daggers' the #1 music video of 2009! This is the video I recently did all the illustration for, so I'm super stoked about it. Of course, I was just one part of the team, gotta give credit to Sasso and Peli (writers and directors - Chain Gang Productions), and Drew and Ryan (animators/effects) for being in the trenches with me making it happen. This was the first single off Raekwon's new record, Cuban Linx II, and it was produced by the one J Dilla. Chea.

New Blog Format

Because I've decided that no matter how hard I try, I just don't have the desire to learn any advanced (or even intermediate) web coding, I'm now in the process of changing my site to this blogspot format. It will make it even easier for me to update so hopefully that will happen more often. Instead of trying to maintain separate sections of the site (news, portfolio, merch, etc.), I'm just gonna post art as I finish it or as it can be released, along with any relevant news items. So the top of this page will always be the newest stuff, and older as you move down the page. I hope to soon set up a shop as well, which will be linked to the right. This format also allows viewer comments and subscriptions to my posts, which could be pretty cool.

So here we go. This is a set of sneakers I did for a friend, to give his wife for Christmas:
